The South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (SANCA) is a Non-Profit Organization whose major objectives are the prevention and treatment of Alcohol and Drug Dependence. Through the provision of specialized prevention and treatment services, we enhance the quality of life of persons affected directly and indirectly by alcohol and other drugs, thereby restoring their self-respect and dignity.

SANCA is a national umbrella organization consisting of 29 Alcohol and Drug Help Centre’s, providing over 52 service points / satellite offices in all the nine provinces of South Africa. Each Alcohol and Drug Help Centre functions independently, but is affiliated to SANCA National. SANCA Greater Heidelberg is one of these centres that offer Community Based Treatment Services in Heidelberg Gauteng.

SANCA Greater Heidelberg offers various services in the Lesedi Municipal area, which include Heidelberg, Ratanda and Devon. The office is situated in Heidelberg.

SANCA Greater Heidelberg is funded by the Department of Social Development to annually treat 320 service users in our out-patient treatment program which include medical assistance, therapy sessions, support group sessions and referral to in-patient treatment centers.

Prevention and Awareness Projects is an integral part of our core business. Annually 20 000 individuals are reached through various campaigns and awareness programs as we believe prevention is better than cure.

The KE-Moja – I’m fine Without Drugs Program is a Provincial campaign endorsed by the Department of Social Development and AYDF. SANCA has various Ke-Moja coaches deployed in all the local schools and community. Annually we reached 6 OO0 learners and youth through our Ke-Moja modular programs. Ke-Moja Mass Base Presentations are done at schools, clinics, CBO’s and other places of interest. We annually reach 15 000 individuals through this intervention.

Both Treatment services and Prevention services are free of charge as we are currently subsidized by the Department of Social Development.
